Nacida en 1994 en Miyagi Prefecture, Rena Kudoh se graduó en 2017 con una licenciatura en Pintura al Óleo por el Departamento de Bellas Artes de Tohoku University of Art & Design. Sin una base fija, desarrolla su práctica desplazándose de un lugar a otro. A partir de una sensación personal de caos —formada por memorias anónimas que se entremezclan a través del viaje, sensaciones persistentes de la infancia e imágenes oníricas que emergen abruptamente— crea obras en múltiples medios, incluyendo pintura, cerámica y dibujo. Su práctica da lugar a mundos periféricos que resultan familiares y, al mismo tiempo, no pertenecen a ningún sitio.

Entre sus exposiciones individuales recientes se encuentran “One alone, Two hugs. All three of us together. Filleted” en VOU / Bou (2022), “Un-public mother and child” en Shiogama Sugimura Jun Museum of Art (2022), “The rats listen to the night” en myheirloom (2023), y “be your dog” en Tosei Kyoto Gallery (2023). Entre sus exposiciones colectivas destaca “How to Make Friends” en Art Center Ongoing (2023). En 2025, instaló tres esculturas públicas como parte de los proyectos oficiales que conmemoran el 1300 aniversario del sitio histórico de Tagajō.

A partir de octubre de 2025, residirá durante un año en Mexico como beneficiaria de la beca de estudios en el extranjero de la Pola Art Foundation.

Born in 1994 in Miyagi Prefecture, Rena Kudoh graduated in 2017 with a BFA in Oil Painting from the Department of Fine Arts at Tohoku University of Art & Design. Without a fixed base, she works while moving from place to place. Drawing on a personal sense of chaos—formed by anonymous memories that intermingle through travel, lingering sensations from childhood, and dream images that emerge abruptly—she creates works across multiple media, including painting, ceramics, and drawing. Her practice gives rise to peripheral worlds that feel familiar yet belong nowhere.

Her recent solo exhibitions include “One alone, Two hugs. All three of us together. Filleted” at VOU / Bou (2022), “Un-public mother and child” at Shiogama Sugimura Jun Museum of Art (2022), “The rats listen to the night” at myheirloom (2023), and “be your dog” at Tosei Kyoto Gallery (2023). Group exhibitions include “How to Make Friends” at Art Center Ongoing (2023). In 2025, she installed three public sculptures as part of the official projects commemorating the 1300th anniversary of the historic site of Tagajō.

From October 2025, she will spend one year in Mexico as a recipient of the Overseas Study Grant from the Pola Art Foundation.
