BAR FANTASMA

¿Dónde surgen las ideas? Contrario a la idea mitológica del artista genio que en un momento de lucidez es tocado por las musas de la inspiración y de la nada desdobla un proceso de creación sobre la materia, las ideas surgen en casi cualquier momento. Un problema que debe ser resuelto pone a la mente en un estado de alerta constante que deviene en una serie de posibles soluciones que, al ponerse en práctica, se evalúa si el proceso fue o no efectivo. De manera muy general, esto es lo que muchas veces sucede durante los procesos creativos que dan forma a muchas de las obras de arte. Sin embargo, dicho proceso funciona mejor en el momento en que las ideas se socializan, es decir, cuando compartimos con otros aquello que estamos intentando buscar. Es ahí donde el proceso de interlocución, las experiencias y los conocimientos de otras personas, nutren el ejercicio de pensar.

Uno de esos momentos de intercambio de ideas, experiencias y aprendizaje tiene como antesala un espacio de características peculiares: la cantina, la cual ha sido uno de los lugares donde, entre comida, vino y música, se comparten todo tipo de conversaciones. En muchas ocasiones, es el ambiente cantinero el caldo de cultivo perfecto para relajarse y conversar sobre proyectos, socializar ideas, discutir posibilidades, recibir consejos y, con suerte, cerrar tratos.

BAR FANTASMA es una exhibición que resume, a partir de una serie de esculturas, el momento post-cantinero y fugaz de la fiesta: el día siguiente de la celebración, la mañana que ya no es más un “after” y, entre olor a cigarrillo, botellas vacías y recuerdos borrosos, se sabe que es momento de seguir, hacerse cargo de ejecutar las ideas y materializar los proyectos. La fiesta, que ahora es solo el fantasma de una noche larga, se ha de transformar en un momento necesario y útil que acompaña muchos de los procesos de la creación artística.

BAR FANTASMA (PHANTOM BAR)

Where do ideas come from? Contrary to the mythological notion of the genius artist who, in a moment of clarity, is touched by the muses of inspiration and unfolds a creative process from nothing, ideas can emerge at almost any time. A problem that needs solving puts the mind in a constant state of alert, leading to a series of potential solutions, which, when put into practice, are evaluated to determine if the process was effective or not. In very general terms, this is often what happens during creative processes that shape many works of art. However, this process works best when ideas are socialized, that is, when we share with others what we are trying to discover. This is when dialogue, the experiences, and the knowledge of others enrich the act of thinking.

One of those moments of idea exchange, experience, and learning has as its backdrop a space with peculiar characteristics: the cantina (bar), which has been one of those places where, amidst food, wine, and music, all kinds of conversations are shared. Many times, the bar atmosphere is the perfect breeding ground for relaxing and talking about projects, socializing ideas, discussing possibilities, receiving advice, and, with some luck, closing deals.

BAR FANTASMA (PHANTOM BAR) is an exhibition that, through a series of sculptures, encapsulates the fleeting, post-bar moment of the party: the day after the celebration, the morning that is no longer an “after-party,” and amidst the smell of cigarettes, empty bottles, and blurry memories, it becomes clear that it’s time to move on, to take charge of executing ideas and bringing projects to life. The party, now just the ghost of a long night, must transform into a necessary and useful moment that accompanies many artistic creation processes.
